I have started a placebo company. So far we have "approved" placebos for many mental health conditions, Long Covid (ok that's a mental health condition too), Covid19/flu/common cold/sniffles/"the crud", Monkey pox, and are currently working on "approval" (by us of course) for several more. Our latest and most innovative product is the "VirtCebo" - it's so good that you just have to tell the patient that they've been given a therapeutic agent - no saline needed.
Awesome! Friends and family think I am nuts when I talk about this, the gaslight starts! The believing something into existence and reality doesn't exist! Lost family and friends over research and thinking! Much easier to be ignorant. Keep up the good work!
We have bought the big Pharma/Gov story so we now BELIEVE that pills and 💉 are the solution, instead of changing diet/exercise routines, and getting more fresh air/sunshine.
Isn’t it amazing how bigOil is entrenched in our Ag & our Medicines? There has been a war on Natural Immunity since like 1900. Our food isn’t anymore, because our soils are toast and because pesticides by the barrel, and our immunity is taking tea, and our mental health is more mental than health…so the obvious solution is, wait for it…more pills, maybe a booster?!
Nice way to dismiss someone like me, who suffers from severe treatment-resistant depression. While I agree we have gone overboard on broadening the scope of some mental illnesses and that a lot of drugs don't work well for some mental illnesses, does not mean we're making excuses or that mental illness does not exist. Live in my shoes for a day. Don't be so quick to judge.
What do you eat? Do you eat a high fat, low protein and low carb diet? You should. I've been depressed periodically over the course of 69 years. Never needed drugs. Being depressed is NORMAL. Eat an organic diet high in quality fats, no sugar, no grains, no juices (high sugar content). I've cured my own depressive states every time by simply having a positive attitude and eating properly. Would you be depressed if you has Stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer? I have it. I'm thrilled. It's given me the opportunity to work with (I write and publish medical books) several scientists I know, develop a specific diet and a drug and supplement protocol. Diagnosis = Nov. 04, 2022. Right tumor disappeared. Left tumor reduced 80+% in the way tumors are measured. I'm laughing all day and have never been depressed over this cancer because so far I've lived longer than 96% of those with this cancer. I lift weights, walk 3 miles a day, eat organic high fat diet and my girlfriend and cat love me. What's there to be depressed about? NOTHING. Maybe you should buy a new pair of shoes.
The reason this is happening is due to over-diagnosis in the first place. People are being put on drugs or drug trials on a placebo who would have got better on their own anyway. This is why cancer rates are increasing and the survival rate seems to be improving.

😂
What’s the effect called when the doctor believes that a drug intervention works and won’t test or check it’s actually working in a given individual?
That’s called tick-box medicine. ie healthcare as it’s practiced by nearly everyone today.
Greed.

It looks to me that if the "placebo effect" is getting stronger, the true efficacy of these drugs must be small.
Ritalin improves the mood but tends to exacerbate OCD problems. Also - can be highly addictive.
So if you are a natural sceptic, they won’t work?
Yes looks like it. Blind ignorant belief might be the key to good health, happiness and a long life.
What a bummer.
Intelligent belief in effective SAFE food and drugs/supplements IS the key to good health. No placebos necessary.

The fishbowl is filthy - vaccinate the goldfish!
There is a direct connection between soils and your gut biome, and between your gut biome and your Emotions. Your gut biome’s connected to your, funny bone. Your funny bone’s connected to your, hair brain, your hair brain’s connected to your, fast food. https://longevity.stanford.edu/lifestyle/2024/04/08/more-than-a-gut-feeling-how-your-microbiome-affects-your-mood/

That's a great analogy.
I think https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/we-need-to-stop-hating-big-pharma and that instead we need to blame ourselves for much of what has gone wrong...
There is a way out... https://fasteddynz.substack.com/p/a-near-fool-proof-cure-for-cancer but people are pathetic... they prefer to order 341 pizza... and wash it down with a gallon of soda... while lying on the sofa watching reruns of Dancing with Stars
My sympathy for those who hate big pharma... is limited
It's a messy topic -

I’m no doctor or expert but it sounds like you are spot on!

Glad I met you
