As you know I've been looking into the placebo and nocebo effects for years and it never fails to amaze me how important our beliefs are for our health and living a good life too. I've not read this book or seen this particular study before, but I'm not surprised. Thank you for sharing more on this very important topic.

Good article. Read The book:Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispenza.

When you understand how powerful this effect truly is you understand how one can take a natural occurence(cold/flu), layer on the power of suggestion(nocebo) iced with a thick layer of fear and bingo, a pandemic is born.

Also books by David R. Hamilton PhD, It's the thought that counts, How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body, and Lissa Rankin Mind Over Medicine have further information.

It is an incredible phenomenon! I am experiencing it first hand atm: a close friend has had a whole range of health problems recently, all of them indicating inflammation throughout her body. She’s had numerous tests/scans and all of them were inconclusive (of course they were looking for cancer). At her last appointment to discuss the results of a scan, the specialist said that there was a problem with her lungs (didn’t say what) and she needed a biopsy. Since then, about two weeks, she has had trouble breathing, no energy, coughing, which she didn’t have before!

It appears that "the power of suggestion" has lots of uses. Of course, many of us already knew that!

Norman Cousin wrote about the power of the mind, or spirit, to heal many years ago in

Anatomy of an Illness as perceived by the patient, or similar subtitle.

Your appearance on the Tom Woods show discussing, amongst other things, the nocebo effect, inspired me to write my first Substack article incorporating the concept:

Thank you for this excellent article describing the nocebo effect and its power to produce symptoms of illness. That effect partly accounts for the belief people hold of contagion, which despite what seems obvious to the uninformed, is not a thing...doesn't happen. Never proven to occur in experiments run by contagion enthusiasts, when such studies are properly controlled (among other prospective causes, such as nocebo).

Gregg Braden's books are also well worth reading. My particular favourite is Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer.
