Title: Pharmaceutical company advertising in The Lancet
Of note: The Editor of The Lancet, Richard Horton, is famously quoted as saying: “Journals have devolved into information laundering operations for the pharmaceutical industry.”
This sentiment is echoed by former New England Journal of Medicine Editor, Marcia Angell, who describes information from the pharmaceutical industry as coming, “mixed with hyperbole, bias and misinformation, and there is often no way to tell which is which.”
Both of these statements were cited by the Editors of the Journal of Emergency Medicine Australasia in their decision earlier this year to ban drug company advertising from their journal.
Title: Medical royal colleges receive millions from drug and medical devices companies
Date: 26 Jul 2023
Of note: Royal colleges in the UK Have received more than £9m in marketing payments from drug and medical devices companies since 2015. The Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners, biggest recipients of industry money. (NB the colleges refused to disclose how much they actually receive)
Title: From FDA to MHRA: are drug regulators for hire?
Date: 29 Jun 2022
Of Note: Industry money saturates the globe’s leading regulators. The BMJ found that the majority of regulators’ budget—particularly the portion focused on drugs—is derived from industry fees (yes, the game keepers are being paid by the poachers):
Title: A hidden web of policy influence: The pharmaceutical industry’s engagement with UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Groups
Date: 25 Jun 2021
Of note: Holistically scrutinising industry engagement with influential organisations and individuals is critical to protecting the integrity of policy, strategy, and operational decision-making.
Title: You can’t sue Pfizer or Moderna if you have severe Covid vaccine side effects. The government likely won’t compensate you for damages either
Date: 17 Dec 2020
Of note: Biden gives immunity to vaccine manufacturers for the SARS-COV2 countermeasures. This is replicated across the parts of the world that could afford the jabs. Of note, India refused. Thankfully they found Ivermectin (see later sections).
Title: Substack Investigation: Fauci's Royalties And The $350 Million Royalty Payment Stream HIDDEN By NIH
Date: 16 May 2022
Of note: Scientists at the National Institute of Health (NIH) continually receive royalities for signing off on medical interventions being rolled out / approved nationwide.
The article also refers to the $30bn Fauci doles out to 56,000 recipients. It buys a lot of good will, especially when the $30bn comes directly from Big Pharma and the gang 😊
Title: Revisiting financial conflicts of interest in FDA advisory committees
Date: Sep 2014
Of note: Individuals with financial interests solely in the sponsoring firm were more likely to vote in favor of the sponsor than members with no financial ties (OR = 1.49, p = 0.03)
Title: Senator Paul Questions Moderna CEO Over COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects
Of note: (worth a watch for the side effect conversation but for this purpose): “Moderna paid NIH $400,000,000. Making money from the vaccine while dictating government policy on how many times the vaccine is used.”
Thanks Jonathan - not a shameless plug- they’re part of an open letter I’ve been sending to UK journalists. Emailing some every day with updated info….But nothing in return 😂
Anyway. They are all on my Substack “home page”.
It’s in 9 parts and part 1 is linked below. There are over 230 sources in there. And you are free to take and use as much as you want. It’s 99% just similar sources and info as per my first reply to your article.
I believe this marks the beginning of the end of the Enlightenment.
Among others, agreement on the scientific method as an objective means to determine that which is subject to measurement was an important part of the way forward.
We cannot trust peer reviewed, published scientific studies.
Like bad mortgages in with prime, the entire stack is suspect and without value.
If I was still active as a commercial scientist, I’d call a halt. I don’t know what I can rely on any more.
Doesn't matter. Retractions are common in life sci/biology but no one pays attention, everybody behave like nothing happened and conclusions live happily after!
The science (I mean $cience) in life sci are mostly garbage thanks to publish or perish. And the vast majority in the field know this but hey they need to feed their families... And the number of published non replicable garbage, I mean papers, have been exponentially growing (again publish or perish) for decades - now go and find ONE quality paper with sound stats (other interesting fact: most ppl in life sci cannot do stats. They are clicking on black boxes and have no idea how and why - it's a depressing state of art) or full info to replicate should you wish to do so. Studies are impossible to replicate not only bc there is no money/incentive but also bc the authors don't provide full information.
And in one very prestigious institution (one of the most prestigious in the world) these $cientists are proud of this!
Those who have a moral compass leave sooner or later.
Best news I have heard all month. Shut that shit down.
Play in public, pay in public.
Just to add a little more flesh on the bone as to the nature of this widespread corruption
